ADHD Care That Recognizes Women’s Real Experience
Adult ADHD in women is often missed for decades. We offer
thoughtful evaluation and individualized treatment. By telehealth across Minnesota. For
the way ADHD actually shows up in women’s lives.
What ADHD Can Actually Look Like
ADHD in adult women is rarely the stereotype. It often looks like overwhelm rather than hyperactivity. A desk and a mind that are equally full, difficulty starting or finishing tasks, time that slips away, and the exhausting work of holding it all together where no one
can see. It can look like emotional sensitivity, rejection sensitivity, forgetfulness, losing your train of thought mid-sentence, or a lifetime of “trying harder” without ever feeling quite on top of things. Many women describe a private sense of shame: that they should be able to manage what seems to come easily to everyone else. If that resonates, you are not lazy, scattered, or failing. You may be describing a treatable,well-understood neuro developmental condition.
We look beyond standard checklists to see how your brain operates, highlighting your strengths while providing supportive clinical structures to manage focus.
How ADHD Shows Up Differently in Women
Girls and women are more likely to have inattentive-type ADHD, which is quieter and easier to overlook than the hyperactive presentation that gets diagnosed early in boys.
Many women learn to mask. Compensating with lists, overwork, and perfectionism. Until a high-demand season overwhelms the systems that used to hold. That’s why so many women aren’t identified until adulthood, frequently during pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, or another period of intense load. A diagnosis at this stage is
not “too late.” For many women, it is the first time their experience finally makes sense.

Common Questions About ADHD Care
Clear, compassionate answers to help you feel informed, supported, and
empowered in your care.
Can adults really be diagnosed with ADHD for the first time?
Yes. Adult diagnosis is common, especially in women whose inattentive symptoms were overlooked in childhood. It often brings relief and a clearer path forward.
Do you prescribe stimulant medication by telehealth?
We evaluate each person individually and discuss appropriate options, including stimulant and non-stimulant medications, in line with current clinical and regulatory standards. Specific prescribing decisions are made during care.
I think it might just be anxiety or burnout. Can you tell the difference?
That distinction is part of a careful evaluation. ADHD, anxiety, depression, and burnout frequently overlap, and untangling them is exactly what the initial visit is for.
